Council of Administrators - Minutes

Present: Tara Tull, Russell Reynolds, Yvonne Flood, Richard Jividen, Mary Lou Van Voorhis, Katherine Goldberg, Alton Clark, Larry Worster

Absent: Maureen Johnson, Ellen Boswell, Denise Schuette, Donnita Wong, Julie Mancuso

1. Discussion of council membership. Current by-laws call for 9-11 members for the COA, council currently has 13. Council will hold at current membership level and consider making changes to by-laws to allow for additional members. Council meetings remain open to all interested MSCD administrators.

2. Previous meeting’s minutes approved, meeting dates for upcoming year distributed. Tara will arrange for council to continue to meet in WC133, with the library/meeting room in the Women’s Studies office in NP1033 as a back-up meeting location.

3. Larry Worster and Russell Reynolds will begin work on a COA website, possibly similar to the current Faculty Senate and Classified Staff Council websites.

4. Discussion of creating a survey to gauge what issues administrators would like the council to address in the upcoming year. Council agreed that this effort should include a review of similar, previous surveys conducted by college. Issues raised for consideration by the council included addressing: • communication issues • update of employee handbook, clarification of benefits • morale issues among administrators.

5. Discussion of COA standing committee reports, most committees have not met or had no new reports. Current standing committees are Handbook Committee, Pay for Performance committee, and Strategic Planning committee.
