1. MetroConnect Website Answers Your Questions
Metro State will take another giant step in technology advancement when the college's portal system, MetroConnect, goes live Monday, July 7. MetroConnect will provide the college with opportunities to increase communication, gain efficiencies and reduce costs, including no longer printing information that can be obtained online.
The portal team has developed an informative website about MetroConnect, including 10 of the most frequently asked portal questions.
At a board meeting Monday night, the Board of Trustees accepted President Sheila Kaplan's resignation effective July 1, granting her president emeritus status. The board granted Kaplan a one-year sabbatical, during which time she will provide administrative consulting and prepare for a return to teaching history. Gov. Bill Owens has appointed three new members to the Metro State Board of Trustees, which expands from seven to nine voting members on July 1. The new trustees are:
Trustee Gin Butler, serving a one-year term, was reappointed. Trustee Patrick Wiesner is finishing his one-year term and will take a similar position with the new board that will oversee Western State College.

Yolanda Ortega-Ericksen, who started work at Metro State 30 years ago as a secretary, is retiring this week as vice president of student services.
