This is it! The College community gathers Tuesday night, from
5:30-7:30 p.m. on Ninth Street Historic Park, to close out a year of events
celebrating the College’s 45-year anniversary.
The event will feature family-friendly activities and guided tours
of Ninth Street Historic Park. Live music will be provided by Tito
Milaga, a world music band that plays a combination of flamenco, gypsy,
rumba, bolero and salsa.
A barbeque dinner will be served, capped by dessert from Cake Crumbs, an alumni-owned bakery. Bottles of Rowdy Red,
the limited edition cabernet franc, will be available for purchase,
with 100 percent of the profits supporting scholarships at Metro State.
Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of
“Where the Rivers Meet,” the story of the Westside Neighborhood and the
displaced Aurarians, whose sacrifices provided for the College’s unique
urban downtown campus.
All profits support the Richard
T. Castro Distinguished Visiting Professorship endowment. The $45 book
features the printed lyrics and a CD of the music to the “Westside Oratoria.”
In addition, the recipient of the newly created Anniversary Scholarship will be recognized at the event.
