• Associate Professor of Art Carlos Fresquez’s mural class at Metro State grabbed the attention of readers and was awarded the Best Mural Project - 2012. Two murals at 721 Santa Fe Drive give a nod to the heritage of Auraria. The class created murals for the Su Teatro Cultural and Performing Arts Center as well as Metro State’s Center for Visual Art.
• Affiliate art faculty member Bradley Borthwick was voted as having the Best Multimedia Show - 2012. Borthwick’s elaborate piece includes an intricate installation, a staged performance and a film he starred in.
• The exhibition of works by artists focused on environmental issues at the Metro State Center for Visual Art was recognized as the Best Gallery Show — Group - 2012. The show, “Reclamation,” was organized by former CVA Director/Curator Jennifer Garner.
