Festivities of El Dia de los Muertos will take place on the Auraria
Campus next week to mark a time when Mexicans and Chicanos reflect
their fear of death by mocking it in life. “Day of the Dead” is a time
to celebrate, prepare special foods and honor the dead. Traditionally
in Mexico and parts of the United States, the streets near the
cemeteries are filled with decorations of streamers, flowers and candy
skulls.
The festivities will include Aztec dancers, mariachi music, stage
performances, face painting traditional refreshments and more. The
events below are free and open to the all campus students, faculty, and
staff.
