Two Roadrunner club teams are in the hunt for a national title.
The Metro State Inline Hockey Club Division I and B teams are headed to Salt Lake City to compete in the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association national championships April 11-15.
The Division I team received an automatic bid after a hold-your-breath win March 3 over Colorado State University in the last of a three-game series that gave Metro State the regional title.
The B team was invited to the nationals by virtue of a unanimous vote by all the regional league directors.
Many of the rules are the same for ice and roller hockey, though the size of the rink is smaller for the roller version and it is played with four skaters instead of five.
Both Metro teams will play a minimum of four games. If they survive the fourth contest, they’ll go on until they lose or win the national championship.
