Rowdy goes gangnam – and has fun doing it

Rowdy has gone gangnam.

Gone what?

“Gangnam Style,” according to Wikipedia, is a single in the K-pop, electro house, hip house, Korean hip hop genre by the South Korean pop artist PSY. Not surprisingly, the song spawned a music video that became a YouTube sensation—and an inspiration for a video parody that appears on the MSU Denver Facebook page. (It was posted Oct. 19, so you have to scroll down a bit.)

The video, which was made last month and mostly shot on campus, is a joint production of Metro Student Media and New Student Orientation. Rowdy, who plays PSY, is accompanied by various student dancers, including junior Shannon Gilmore. She said the production is meant to promote student media and be “a kind of fun thing for us to do.”

It is fun, and something more. Adds video co-director Henry Duong, a student coordinator in New Student Orientation, “I personally felt it was really an opportunity for MSU Denver to show itself off in a different light.”
