Committee seeks proposals for organizational structure in Academic Affairs
Oct 15, 2008

The Academic Structure Review Committee (originally the College Reorganization Committee, see http://www.mscd.edu/~collcom/artman/publish/reorg_twv5043008.shtml) is soliciting ideas from faculty and staff for changes in the organizational structure of the Academic Affairs Division. Feedback from those who recommend no changes to the current structure is also encouraged.

Interim Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs Rich Wagner, who chairs the committee, asks that the following question frame any proposals:

How would you organize your area/school/division to improve its effectiveness as it relates to the College’s mission and strategic initiatives and the strategic plan of your area?

The committee hopes for involvement from those outside of the Academic Affairs Division, but reiterates that the structure of other divisions does not fall within the committee’s purview.

Send feedback or detailed proposals to Wagner at wagnerri@mscd.edu or to Faculty Senate President Lynn Kaersvang at kaersval@mscd.edu. Proposals are due no later than Feb. 1, 2009, as the committee plans to submit a final report to the provost and president by April 2009.

For more information, go to the committee’s Web site, www.mscd.edu/~aa/about/asrc.shtml, which has a progress report that describes the initial information gathered from deans, chairs and directors as well as a process for reviewing specific modifications to the organizational structure.

For the guidelines, go to http://www.mscd.edu/~collcom/todayatmetro/assets/asrc_proposals.doc.
