Luckily
none of the students participating in the Apprentice Challenge @ Metro
State got cooked during the judgment of their first project on Friday,
Jan 30.
For the Metro State Food Bank Challenge, the six Apprentice students
worked together as a group and spent two weeks dedicated to developing
a strategic plan to help the food bank function as smoothly as
possible. Participants focused on managing growth, finances, community
partners and communications. Their plans ranged from designing a Web
site and brochure to creating a recipe book.
“We were impressed with the work that they did especially because
they only had two weeks to do it all,” says Brittany Pyle, student
coordinator of the food bank.
“The food bank has received lots of information and a sound basis
for how to handle growth,” says acting Co-director of Alumni Relations
Janelle Lindsey, who is overseeing the Apprentice Challenge competition.
The Comcast e-Recycling Challenge l began Feb. 6 and requires the
Apprentice participants to work with Comcast on devising a program to
engage and educate consumers about recycling electronics.
