Longtime professors Art Campa and Rodolfo “Rudy” Garcia have been
named to interim associate dean positions in the School of Letters,
Arts and Sciences following full internal searches. In addition, Clare
Hays’ position as interim associate dean for personnel and student
affairs has been made permanent.
Campa, an anthropology professor, who had been co-director of the
College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), is the interim associate
dean for personnel and student affairs as of Aug. 1. He replaces Luis
Torres, who left LAS in April to become interim deputy provost in the
Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Spanish Professor Rodolfo “Rudy” Garcia was chosen interim associate
dean for curriculum and educational resources, following the June 30
retirement of longtime Metro State professor and administrator Hal
Tamblyn.
“I’m really excited about the addition of these two professors to
our staff,” says LAS Dean Joan L. Foster. “Art has extensive experience
managing grants and people, and Rudy brings a great skill set as well,
having been a department chair and the chair of the LAS Curriculum
Committee.
“All three, Art, Rudy and Clare, totally embrace Metro State and its
mission and are eager to put their energy into their new positions.”
