Among the remaining events during Homecoming Week are a VIP tour of the Science Building and Outdoor Move Night. Homecoming also provides the College community with an occasion to support Metro State athletics, starting with a pep rally on Thursday, Sept. 25, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the flag pole.
Interspersed throughout the week are opportunities to see the Roadrunners in action, playing soccer, volleyball and even an alumni baseball game. (To read about other events, go to http://www.mscd.edu/~collcom/artman/publish/homecoming_twv7091509.shtml).
The athletic action begins on Wednesday, Sept. 23, when the women’s soccer team takes on Mesa State at 2:30 p.m. on the Auraria Field (behind the Tivoli Student Union). The Roadrunners moved up to No. 13 nationally in the Sept. 22 National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas NCAA Division II top 25 poll.
Then on Saturday, Sept. 26, baseball alumni will play the 2009-10 Metro State baseball team in a fun exhibition game. The Metro State Alumni Baseball Game will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the Auraria Field.
Also on Saturday, Sept. 26 the women’s volleyball team will play Nebraska-Kearney at 3 p.m. at the Auraria Events Center. Tickets are $7 for adults, free to Metro State students with ID. The match-up promises to be an exciting one as the No. 16-ranked Roadrunners attempt to topple No. 8-ranked Nebraska-Kearney.
Finally, on Sunday, Sept. 27, fans will have the chance to see both the men’s and the women’s soccer teams play. The women face Colorado State-Pueblo at noon and the men play Fort Lewis at 2:30 p.m., both at the Auraria Field. The games are free.
To show your true Metro State colors, consider wearing a Metro State sweatshirt to the game. During Homecoming week, the Auraria Bookstore is providing a 20 percent discount on any one item of Metro Wear. Use the code METRO2009HOME when making a purchase online or present the printout of the Homecoming Events Schedule at the bookstore by Friday, Sept. 25.
