Auraria schedules asbestos investigation and survey; NC elevators shut down Friday night
Jul 23, 2008

Auraria Facilities Management has scheduled an asbestos investigation and survey in certain areas in North and South Classroom buildings in preparation for the buildings’ renovations associated with the Science Building project. The affected areas are the east half of the third floor of the North Classroom and two areas on the second floor of the South Classroom.

The survey will be conducted Wednesday through Friday, July 23-25, with follow-up observations and measurements the week of July 28, if needed.

Suspect building materials will be collected and tested following Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment regulations and industry standards. It is acceptable for staff and students to be in the building during the survey since the collection will not cause any asbestos releases.

If you have any questions, please contact Mike Turman, assistant project manager, 303-556-2394, or David Krajicek, environmental health and safety manager, 303-556-8397.

North Classroom elevators
As a part of the Auraria Campus elevator modernization project, the tower elevators in the North Classroom Building will be shut down from 10 p.m. Friday, July 25, until 5 a.m. Saturday, July 26. The building should be unoccupied during this repair time and these outages will not affect the regular building lights, outlets or any other equipment such as faxes or copiers. Questions can be directed to Pete Hagen, project manager, at 303-556-2209.
