The Colorado House of Representatives started their Monday morning this week with the dulcet tones of the Metro State Chorale.
The 55-member musical group, under the direction of Music Department Chair Michael Kornelsen, were invited by Speaker of the House Terrance Carroll, after he heard them perform at the Rachel B. Noel Community Event in February.
The group opened on the floor with the spiritual “I Can Tell the World,” arranged by Moses Hogan. Earlier in the morning, the chorale sang a few numbers on the main floor of the Capitol’s grand rotunda staircase. Following their performance in the House, the group hiked up to the Capitol dome, from which they performed the “Star-Spangled Banner.”
“The Metro State Chorale is another shining example of the talent and excellence that exists in abundance at Metro State,” said President Stephen Jordan who, along with Letters, Arts and Sciences Dean Joan Foster, was in attendance. “It’s a beautiful auditory showcase of the College.”
