It’s now possible to order a decaf latte and support MSU Denver students at the same time.
The Dazbog Coffee Shop, located in front of the Student Success Building, opened on Friday, Sept. 21. A grand opening celebration will be held at a later date.
The opening of the Dazbog store represents more than the addition of a new coffee shop on campus. About 50 percent of store employees attend MSU Denver and a total of 80 percent attend one of the three schools on campus.
The Dazbog Coffee Co. relationship with MSU Denver, too, has created an entrepreneurship scholarship for a business student “that will support his/her long-term goal of becoming a business leader.” The scholarship will start in the fall of 2014.
A portion of gross sales from the campus shop will support the scholarship fund. Also, Dazbog has developed a special “Roadrunner” blend of coffee with a portion of its proceeds going towards the scholarship as well.
“Besides bringing their exceptional coffee to campus, Dazbog has laid the groundwork for several ongoing partnerships benefiting our students,” says MSU Denver President Stephen Jordan. “From scholarships, the Roadrunner signature coffee blend, internships and employment opportunities, Dazbog is helping us further our goals to create relevant applied-learning opportunities while expanding access for students in need.”
During this “soft opening” period, customers can text a special code (“dazmetro”) to the mobile rewards program Mocapay (at 466622) and receive a $4 gift card on their phones for any Dazbog location. By texting Mocapay, people are automatically enrolled in Dazbog’s mobile rewards program and will receive ongoing offers and information about special promotions, such as the grand opening.
