Reminder: Discrimination complaints should be referred to EOO
Jul 15, 2009

Percy Morehouse, executive director of equal opportunity and assistant to the president, reminds faculty and staff that College policy requires they refer any student or employee who is alleging unlawful discrimination, harassment or retaliation to his office.

“I have had some surprises lately when I’ve learned of student complaints from outside agencies,” Morehouse says. “I did not have the opportunity to intervene to resolve the problem prior to students going to federal or state agencies.”

The official College policies regarding amorous relationships, discrimination, disabilities, freedom of speech and sexual harassment can be found at http://www.mscd.edu/policies/equal_opportunity/index.shtml

General policy regarding complaints can be found in the Handbook for Professional Personnel, available at http://www.mscd.edu/facstaff/hr/documents/handbooks/index.htm

For Metro State’s Equal Opportunity Grievance Procedure, go to http://www.mscd.edu/facstaff/admin/eoo/policiesandprocedures/index.shtml.
