The essence of the Denver bohemian scene will be making beats at the Emmanuel Gallery June 4-July 11 during the exhibition “Mile High and Underground,” featuring the art of Steve Wilson.

Wilson, also an antique book dealer, focuses his work on ideas stemming from the beat culture of East Colfax between 1967 and 1987. Poets, filmmakers, book dealers and artists influenced this bohemian culture that inspired Wilson’s photo collages and paintings.

The exhibit opens on June 4, 4-7 p.m., with a guest performance by Ed Ward of “Billy’s Burroughs Prediction.”

The gallery is open Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is free to the public.
