Reminder: Food Bank collecting donations for Thanksgiving
Nov 4, 2009

The Metro State Food Bank is requesting donations of Thanksgiving food items or gift cards for purchasing these food items, by Monday, Nov. 9.

The Food Bank is asking departments to select an item from the list below and collectively donate 35 of the item chosen. Contact the Food Bank to inform them of the items picked to ensure there is no duplication of items.

Items requested include the following:
• Canned Green Beans
• Canned Corn
• Boxed Potatoes
• Canned Yams
• Gravy Packets
• Cream of Mushroom Soup
• Evaporated milk

With the donated items, the Food Bank plans to assemble Thanksgiving dinner boxes for students in need. The boxes will be assembled on Wednesday, Nov. 11, and distributed the week of Nov. 16.

If your department or organization is interested in helping the Food Bank, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Food Bank at 303-352-7094 or metrostatefoodbank@gmail.com.

In operation for over a year, the Food Bank serves approximately 200 students per month. It estimates that 75-80 percent of students using the Food Bank are living below the poverty line.
