After a career at Metro State that has spanned 34 years, Maureen Johnson, academic coordinator for Student Support Services, will retire next month. All faculty, staff and members of the Metro State community are invited to attend her retirement party on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 2-4 p.m. at 1020 Ninth Street.
Johnson came to Metro State in 1974 as an associate director of admissions. In 1980-81 she coordinated production of the college catalog. After a 15-year hiatus that included raising a family, Johnson returned to the College in 1996 in Student Support Services, where she developed and coordinated the peer tutoring program.
“Maureen is truly student-oriented, and has given more than 100 percent for our students,” said Pat Trotman, director of Student Support Services. “Our peer tutoring program flourished under her leadership.”
“She will definitely be missed by our department and especially by our students.”
