Kudos are in order for a number of members of the Metro State community this week, for achievements in science and the arts.
Mark Brasuell, adjunct instructor of drawing, won Westword's
“Best Group Art Show” for his show, Directions in Abstraction, at EDGE
Gallery in Denver. This is Brasuell’s third Best of Denver award from
the weekly paper.
Classroom Use of Martial Arts Exhibitions, a paper by Grant Denn,
assistant professor of physics, was published in the October 2006 issue
of The Physics Teacher. The periodical is read by more than 10,000
teachers in high schools and colleges around the world. Karl Mamola,
editor of The Physics Teacher, said, “It is a service to all of these
(readers) to have useful information such as that provided by this
Metropolitan State College of Denver (professor).”
He Dreamed of Flying, a poem by Laura Grolla, senior English
major, was selected for reading at the event honoring the Tuskegee
Airmen today (Weds., April 11) at the Tivioli Turnhalle. Grolla’s poem,
which she will read at 1:50 p.m., was selected from among entries
submitted by Metro State students and faculty and area high school
students to the student-run group Metro Poets. The poem and a picture
of the airmen will be incorporated into a gift presented to the airmen.
