Metro State faculty and staff continue to represent the College with distinction. This Week @ Metro extends kudos to an award-winning professor and a staff member engaged in public service.
The Board of Trustees of the Council for Advancement and Support of
Education (CASE) recently approved the nomination of Assistant Vice
President for Alumni Relations/Executive Director of the Alumni
Association Cherrelyn Napue for service on the Commission on
Alumni Relations. Napue’s three-year appointment is effective July 1.
CASE is a professional organization for advancement professionals at
all levels who work in alumni relations, communications, fundraising,
marketing and other areas. Its Commission on Alumni Relations frames
and directs research to examine and evaluate professional practices and
to develop and monitor programs and services in alumni relations.
On May 7, Associate Professor of Geology Peter J. Varney received
the Denver Oil Recognition Award (DORA), from the Denver Desk and
Derrick Club of Denver (DDD), for his service in support of the
petroleum industry. Varney is the 28th recipient and only the second
educator so honored.Organized in 1951, the DDD’s mission is to enhance
and foster a positive image to the global community by promoting the
contribution of the petroleum, energy and allied industries through
education by using all resources available.
