Metro State faculty continue to build the College’s reputation for preeminence within the academic community.
Associate Professor of Management Beth Frederick has had a
paper titled “Spirituality, Leadership, and Cultural Differences at
Work” accepted at the American Institute of Higher Education Conference.
Patrick Loehr, an affiliate faculty member in the Art Department, will have his book, Mucumber McGee and the Lunch Lady’s Liver
published by HarperCollins (New York) on Sept. 23, 2008. The title is
the author/illustrator’s second offering in the Mucumber McGee series
of children’s books. The first, Mucumber McGee and the Half-Eaten Hot Dog,
was a finalist for the 2007 Border’s Original Voices award, was adopted
into an opera by the University of Arizona, and was recently translated

Associate Professor of Sociology Sheldon Steinhauser has three of his photographs juried into the “In and Out of Focus” exhibit at the Republic Plaza, 370 17th
St. The artists’ reception is Friday, Sept. 19, 5:30-7:30 p.m. The
exhibit will run Sept. 101 through Nov. 19. The show may be viewed
Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m., and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Management Professor Cindy Sutton has had a workshop, titled
“Still Effective After All These (50+) Years: Designing Role Plays to
Build Skills and Facilitate Transfer of Learning," accepted at the
Midwest Academy of Management. She has also been asked to serve as
Proceedings Editor for Midwest AOM.
Management Professor Johann Syman has had several articles published in the Denver Business Journal about
his strategy of teaming students with local businesses through the
Small Business Development Center at the Denver Metro Chamber of
Commerce. Syman also has had his paper, “Survival Strategies of Cable
Television Firms after the Telecommunications Act of 1996," accepted
for publication in The Business Review journal.
