Faculty and staff continue to be honored for their work in the
community and recognized by their peers with prestigious appointments
to academic organizations.
Kudos are due to Interim Deputy Provost Luis Torres for being nominated to receive the The
ˇScouting . . . Vale La Pena! (It’s Worth the Effort!) award and for
being invited to serve on the SAT Writing Exam Committee of the College
Board. The scouting award is presented to people who have “made a
significant contribution to their community while acting as an advocate
for Hispanic Americans/Latinos, encouraging outreach to improve their
conditions.” Torres will receive the award in December along with
former Colorado Gov. Roy Romer, Assistant Dean of the University of
Colorado Law School Lorenzo Trujillo and retired school teacher Lena
Archuleta.
