Faculty and students continue to bring national and international recognition to Metro State in myriad ways.
Economics Professor Mohammed Akacem’s paper, "Oil, institutions and the quest for democracy in the Arab World," accepted for presentation at the Third World Congress for Middle Eastern Studies (WOCMES) in Barcelona, Spain, July 19-24, 2010. He will serve on a panel that will discuss domestic factors and democratic transition.
Economics Professor Kishore Kulkarni will represent Metro State in India from Dec. 15-28. His itinerary includes delivering lectures at the Indian Institute of Finance in New Delhi; the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India in Pune, which has an exchange program with Metro State; the IndSearch Institute in Pune; and the South Indian Education Society College of Management Studies in Mumbai. He will also serve as the program chair for an international conference of the Indian Journal of Economics and Business in New Delhi.
Metro State student Stephanie Mucha has received a prestigious Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in Italy in the summer 2010. Gilman award recipients are selected based on a number of criteria, including statement of purpose, proposed follow-on project, academic progress and performance, diversity, field of study and country of destination.
Assistant Professor of Management Apryl Rogers-Brodersen has co-authored a symposium, "User Reactions to and Perceptions of Computer-Mediated Assessment Tools," that was accepted for presentation at the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) conference in Atlanta, Ga., April 8-10, 2010. Rogers-Brodersen will be chairing the symposium/forum and presenting a paper during the forum.
