Student nominations are being requested from faculty and staff for the Urban Leadership Program. A small steering committee with representatives from Institutional Advancement, Student Services, and Academic Affairs has helped to develop the program for this fall.
“We look forward to reading the nominations and are already excited for the students to get started,” says Associate Director of Student Activities Gretta Mincer. “Participants will gain key leadership skills at seminars, participate in service projects and work with the community and corporate leaders.”
The program, which will accept up to 20 students, will be a member of the Colorado Leadership Alliance, a program of the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation. Faculty and staff are encouraged to nominate students, but students can also apply on their own. Participants will receive $500 a semester or $1,000 per year.
Eligibility for the program includes:
-Enrollment at Metro State for fall 2009 semester for 12 credit hours or more
-Completed 30 credit hours at Metro State or other college or university
-2.75 cumulative GPA
Contact Gretta Mincer at mincer@mscd.edu for an application. Completed applications should be submitted to Mincer at Tivoli 305, via email at mincer@mscd.edu or via fax at 303-556-2596 by Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The program starts Sept. 11.
