Natalie Lutes, vice president of administration, finance and
facilities, will be leaving the University community on May 31, 2013, to pursue
other opportunities.
An important fixture in the University’s growth since she
began her career at MSU Denver in 1977, Lutes has held numerous positions in
the Administration and Finance division — including budget analyst, budget director,
director of budgets & institutional research and finally, her current
position of vice president.
“I want to thank Vice President Lutes for her dedication and
leadership to the University over the last 35 years,” says President Stephen
Jordan. “MSU Denver has experienced tremendous change and growth over the
years, and we are fortunate to have dedicated employees such as Natalie who
have helped foster such a nimble environment. During my tenure at the
University, Natalie has led a variety of initiatives including the development
of the two buildings in our MSU Denver neighborhood, creating the University’s
five-year Financial Accounting Plan and overseeing the University’s financial
resources in a time of dwindling funding and economic downturn.”
Lutes’ duties also include serving as president of the
HLC@Metro Board, an entity established to oversee the new Hotel and Hospitality
Learning Center, and treasurer to the MSU Denver Board of Trustees. Her
involvement with the University’s athletic programs and service as treasurer of
the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference is a direct result of her financial
expertise.
“I feel fortunate to have found Metro State early in my
career,” Lutes said. “The University provided me the opportunity to achieve my
degree while raising a family and advancing my career. I am forever indebted and
blessed for this association and the many excellent faculty and staff I have
worked with.”
Lutes will remain in her current position and continue to
represent the University in the state’s budgeting process this legislative
session, as well as oversee ongoing projects such as the new athletic fields
and the program plan for the next MSU Denver neighborhood building.
A search to fill Lutes’ position will begin soon, and will
include hiring an external search firm and appointing an internal committee.
Visit @MSU Denver for more information about the search and
a reception that will be planned in Lute’s honor.
