Students,
faculty and staff from Metro State didn’t let a little frigid weather
keep them from marching from City Park to the Civic Center in Denver’s
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “marade” on Monday.
They turned out not only to march in support of the slain civil
rights leader, but also to hear Metro State President Stephen Jordan
deliver the keynote address at the Civic Center.
Alumni Relations Director Cherrelyn Napue has missed very few of the
events since the early 1980s. "It was really great to see how many
people braved the weather," she said. "We had a good group of Metro
State people and we carried the College's banner. I was also excited
that President Jordan had been asked to speak. All in all, Metro State
was well represented."
Richard Jividen, director of marketing and creative services, was
another who didn't let the cold stop him. “The Metro State group was
near the front and as we were walking by the Capitol I looked back and
saw this sea of people who came out in support of Dr. King’s
message in spite of the bitter cold. It was incredibly inspirational.”
