Both the vice presidents’ and full cabinets have approved some changes in Metro State’s official functions policy.
Initiated
by President Stephen Jordan, the most notable change calls for
pre-approval of all official functions by the appropriate college
executive—dean, vice president or president. Therefore, an official
function form must be in place prior to the event and include the
signature of the dean or VP.
“Nothing
else has really changed,” said Natalie Lutes, interim vice president of
administration and finance, “except that the cabinet also strengthened
the alcohol policy.”
The
revised policy on alcoholic beverages states that the college does not
authorize payment for alcoholic beverages, with the following
exceptions:
- official functions that are pre-approved by the appropriate executive
- when it is purchased for use in Hospitality, Meeting and Travel Administration courses where the alcoholic beverage is part of the course curriculum
- when it is purchased through the Metro State Foundation, which has its own policies regarding alcohol.
Lutes will be sending an e-mail further explaining the policy later this week.
