Administrative Computing is working with Auraria to reconfigure the emergency power-off circuit so as to prevent another unplanned power outage like the one that affected services in the Administration Building data center from 5:45.-10 p.m. on May 17.
According to Joan Zerkovich, associate vice president of administrative computing and chief technology officer, technicians repairing a failed power backup system on the 17th triggered the emergency power-off circuit, which cut power to the data center.
Electronic mail and the campus Web server immediately switched to the Central Classroom data center with no disruption in service; however the Banner databases required repairs, resulting in a disruption to Metro Connect and Banner services for 4 ½ hours.
No data was lost during the process, Zerkovich said.
