College launches national ad campaign for faculty and staff recruitment; nominations sought for profile candidates
Jun 25, 2008

Metro State is shaking up the way it hires nationally.

The Office of College Communications has announced that all national faculty and administrative staff recruitment advertising will be integrated into the College’s “Our success begins with you” branding campaign, which was launched last academic year.

“President Jordan has set the goal to add 20 new full-time tenure track faculty each year over the next 10 years, as part of his vision to achieve preeminence,” said Cathy Lucas, associate vice president of communications and advancement. “To assist in this goal, we are moving beyond simply posting job announcements and marketing Metro State as an excellent employer.”

Nominations sought
The College will continue to post positions as they arise, but the new campaign will also run ads about Metro State whether or not there’s a specific job opening. The ads will feature profiles of faculty and staff who “on a daily basis demand excellence while giving unremitting support to the College’s success,” according to Lucas.

Nominations are being sought for individuals to be featured in the profiles. Nominees can be faculty or staff, who provide students with high-quality enriching experiences, empower students to help solve urban problems, and/or have an area of expertise that demonstrates the rich, urban and diverse fabric of Metro State.

Print and online components
The recruitment campaign will consist of print ads about the College that will run in the Chronicle of Higher Education and other national higher education publications when appropriate, a printed employer profile for use by Equal Opportunity and departments and, because more than 90 percent of job seekers use the Web to research potential employers, a substantial online component. This will include an online employer profile, a “Campus Viewpoints” page on the Chronicle Web site and a revamped Metro State employment Web site (http://www.mscdjobs.com/).

In addition, Metro State will continue to post specific job announcements for positions requiring a national search in the classified section of the Chronicle and other publications. Specific job announcements will be brief and will refer readers to the Web site for more detailed descriptions. Department chairs and division heads are encouraged to continue placing job announcements in trade-specific publications.

“We all know Metro State is a great place to work,” Lucas added. “That’s why we’re here. Now we plan to let others know.”
