Viewers of the newly redesigned Metro State website are spending about 50 percent more time on it than they did last year.
One month into the launch of a new look for the College website and the initial migration of Web pages into Site Manager, the new Web content management system (WCMS), the WCMS committee reports good progress.
Since the Sept. 6 launch of the website’s new look, 21 redesigned websites have been launched, and 1,022 pages have been migrated into Site Manager.
In the past 30 days, the redesigned home page has been viewed by 170,000 unique visitors, about the same number as last year. The average time spent on the site has increased 54 percent, from 2:01 to 3:06 minutes. And the average number of pages viewed per visit is up 15 percent, from 2.38 to 2.78 pages.
Communications and Community Affairs is teaming with the Educational Technology Center to migrate nearly 10,000 pages from academic and administrative sites into the new system by September 2012.

About the WCMS
The Web Content Management System project, first announced in October 2010, was developed to provide a campus-wide and consistent method for website design, template creation and site maintenance. It was especially intended to make the use of technology much easier for employees charged with keeping websites updated for their departments.
