Auraria Police to host Safe Campus Night

The Auraria Police Department will host Safe Campus Night Nov. 8 to promote community safety on the Auraria Campus.

The tri-institutional event in conjunction with the Auraria Higher Education Center will start at 5 p.m. in the Multicultural Lounge on the main level of the Tivoli Student Union. Refreshments will be served.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to join representatives from the Auraria Police Department, Community College of Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver and the University of Colorado Denver to discuss campus safety and to assess future safety needs.

The event will open with a presentation on safety tips by Auraria police. Attendees will break into groups and walk areas of the campus and then reconvene to discuss safety issues they identified. A list of any issues found will be compiled and presented to Auraria’s Office of the Executive Vice President for Administration for consideration.

Questions about Safe Campus Night can be directed to Officer Leonard Peete, Auraria Campus emergency preparedness coordinator, at Leonard.Peete@ahec.edu.
