Starting with the 2013 spring semester, student, faculty and staff commuters will receive a smart card for use on RTD buses and light rail.
For faculty and staff, their RTD EcoPasses will transition to smart cards. Nothing will change except riders will receive a smart card when they go to Auraria Parking Services, rather than a sticker. As always, faculty and staff must show a University ID in order to collect the new cards.
For students, RTD’s new CollegePass smart card will replace the sticker on their University IDs. The RTD campaign to promote the card is called get it, tap it, love it, because users tap their cards at a card reader when boarding a bus or light rail.
Registered students can pick up their smart card in the Tivoli Multicultural Lounge from Jan. 7-19 and Jan. 22, 2013. The distribution hours are:
Monday through Thursday: 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Students must present their University ID and their spring 2013 class schedule to receive their smart card.
Students unable to pick up their smart cards during the scheduled distribution can get them at the Commuter Resource Center, TIV 269. Plus, there is a grace period until Feb. 12, 2013 during which you can still use your current fall sticker. However, RTD encourages students to get their smart card during the January distribution.
