Post-season update: Men’s tennis on way to Sweet 16
May 13, 2009

Metro State’s men’s tennis team bounced their way into the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet Sixteen on Friday, May 8.

The Roadrunners won all three spots for double teams and two spots for singles in a battle extraordinaire against Colorado State-Pueblo. The team has 17-4 wins this season and a school-record winning streak of 13.

The Roadrunners will now head to Altamonte, Fla., where they will play their next match on Wednesday, May 13, at 8:30 a.m. (MDT) against Drury University (Mo.)

In other action, six members of the track team have qualified for the Outdoor Track National Tournament, May 21-23. 800m indoor champion Anthony Luna and Shawn Lindbom will both compete in the 800 meter run, while Rick Bogatay, Nathan Newland and Scott Ingram will run the 1500m. Todd Tolentino will round out the field of Roadrunner qualifiers in the 10,000 meter run.

Women’s softball, women’s tennis and men’s baseball were knocked out of their respective post-season tournaments.
