External Communications
We tell the Metro State story

College Communications builds support for the College by developing relationships and sharing successes. We do this by helping create links between faculty, staff and students and the surrounding community.

Community relations
Through community relations efforts, we serve in community organizations, maintain the College’s speakers bureau, coordinate outside events in support of key initiatives and help develop outside partnerships and build support for college programs and initiatives. We also produce Metro Magazine, published two times per year for Metro State alumni and other friends of the college as well as the Metro Alumni newsletter, published twice per year.

News media relations
Through our comprehensive news media relations program, we serve as the primary link between the campus and local, state and national news media. We:

  • Work with administrators to communicate to the news media about issues affecting Metro State as well as higher education as a whole.
  • Demonstrate Metro State’s wide appeal by generating media coverage of programs and projects that make a difference and of individuals who are forging new ground.
  • Provide a conduit for faculty to share their expertise with reporters, providing insight to important issues and furthering the college’s reputation for providing the very best instruction.

We produce more than 100 news releases annually. We also produce the College Fact Sheet, the Metro State Faculty Experts Guide and the Crisis Communications Plan.

In addition, we provide faculty with tips and training on communicating effectively with reporters.

We’re always on the lookout for great stories about programs, projects and people.
