Get a good bike manual, it'll really help. One with large, clear, detailed pictures is most valuable.

Bike Stands:
A good bike stand and a stool will not only make working on your bike more enjoyable, it will almost certainly improve the quality of your work!

Basic Tools:
1. Headset wrenches
2. Bottom bracket tools
3. Cable tensioning tool
4. Allen wrenches

5. Screwdirver
6. Chain break tool
7. Spoke wrench
8. Cable cutter

Cone Wrenches:
Cone wrenches are required equipment if you plan to adjust and service wheel bearings. Take your bike with you to the store so you can get only the sizes you need. Sometimes you will find that you need two of the same size, but more on that in Bike Tune Model 3.

Mini Tools:
Don't leave home without one of these little gadgets. Mini tools come in many different sizes and shapes. What really matters is that the one you choose has the tools that fit your bike and not a whole lot more. These are desinged with minor field repairs and adjustments in mind.

These make really lowsy shop tools, so they wont replace the tools listed above.

Placing your bike in the bike stand:
Clamp the vice around the seat post (you may need to remove your saddle bags).
This is preffered over placing the vice on the top tube because it won't scratch your paint or interfear with your cables.
