Article I-Name.
The name of this organization shall be the Crypto Science Society.
Article II- Purpose.
The purpose of the Crypto Science Society shall be to study all aspects of science which do not fit into the accepted paradigms of modern science. The Crypto Science Society will also make the findings of those studies available to the public. Specific arias of interest to the Crypto Science Society include Ufology, Parapsychology, Cryptozoology, and all related topics.
Article III- Membership.
Membership to the Crypto Science Society is open to all students of the Metropolitan State College of Denver and any academic institution of the Auraria campus.
To be an active member in the Crypto Science Society, one must meet with a current officer of the Crypto Science Society. The purpose of this meeting shall be so that the officer may gain an understanding of the prospective member’s experience, areas of interest, and skills. Prospective members must also provide accurate contact information, pay the required dues, read and sign the rules and expectations agreement.
Membership expires on the last day of August of every year. Membership must be renewed each year. All members of the Crypto Science Society must maintain conduct appropriate for a professional student organization. Violation of these expectations may result in a member’s dismissal from the Crypto Science Society by a majority vote by the Officer Counsel.
Upon joining the Crypto Science Society, members will receive a current edition of the Field Investigation and Expeditionary Guide and will be added to the active members contact list.
Upon graduation, active members of the Crypto Science Society will become Alumni members. Alumni members will be honorary lifetime members.
Dues for membership will be $10.00 per year for officers and $5.00 per year for non- officers.
Article IV- Officer Counsel.
The Officer Counsel will consist of five elected officers. These officers will be President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and Web Officer.
The term of office shall be one academic year.
Elections shall be held at the end of April of every year. Newly elected officers will begin their term the following August.
It shall be the duty of the President to preside over meetings and guide the direction of the Society’s involvement with activities and groups within the community, which propagate the goals and intentions of the society, as named in Article II. The President shall also maintain conduct appropriate for a professional student organization as to not take away the credibility of the Crypto Science Society.
It shall be the duty of the Vice President to fulfill all the duties of the President, in the President’s absence; also to support the President on all policy matters in accordance with Article II. The Vice President shall also maintain conduct appropriate for a professional student organization as to not take away from the credibility of the Crypto Science Society.
It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to receive, manage, and disperse all organizational funds in accordance with the decisions of the Officers Counsel and the wishes of the group. The Treasurer shall also maintain conduct appropriate for a professional student organization as to not take away from the credibility of the Crypto Science Society.
It shall be the duty of the Secretary to take minutes of the Counsel meetings, (any meeting consisting of the all five members of the Officers Counsel) to manage and maintain all official contact lists, and to maintain an archive of research material, and resources.
The separate contact lists will be;
a list of all active members distinguishing investigators from other members, a lists of alumni members, a contact list of non members who are interested in being informed of events and activities by email, and a list of press contacts.
The Secretary shall also maintain conduct appropriate for a professional student organization as to not take away from the credibility of the Crypto Science Society.
It shall be the duty of the Web Officer to manage and maintain an official website for the Crypto Science Society (CSS). The website will contain basic information regarding the mission of the CSS, first hand research, and links to pertinent web sites. The Web Officer shall also maintain conduct appropriate for a professional student organization as to not take away from the credibility of the Crypto Science Society.
If an officer can not fulfill the responsibilities of their position, the Counsel may elect to remove said officer by a majority vote and appoint a replacement officer to said position. The appointed interim officer will fulfill all the duties of their office until a special election can be held to either retain the interim officer or replace them with a more suitable candidate.
Article V- Meetings.
Officer Counsel meetings will be held as necessary, and consist of all five officers. These meetings will cover policy and budget issues.
There will be at least one monthly meeting to address events, open forum discussions, Investigator training and other issues concerning the Crypto Science Society. This meeting may include special guests who are experts in their fields in accordance with Article II.
There will be periodic guest speaker engagements and events which fulfill the goals of the Crypto Science Society in accordance with Article II.
An introductory meeting will be held at the beginning of each fall semester. This meeting will recruit and welcome new members as well as inform interested people about the Crypto Science Society.
Article VI- Field Investigation and Expeditionary Team.
The Crypto Science Society will maintain a team of certified investigators to scientifically study, evaluate, and travel to areas of interest that apply to the Crypto Sciences.
The F.I.E.T. will operate in accordance with the current edition of the Field Investigation and Expeditionary Guide. The field guide may be updated and amended by a board consisting of current certified investigators the Officers Counsel and the Adviser.
This group may consist of teams of 4-5 members.
Membership to the Field Investigation and Expeditionary Team is open to all student members of the Crypto Science Society who demonstrate open minded objectivity, knowledge of the scientific method, investigation skills, characteristics of common phenomena, and knowledge of prior research. Review boards consisting of at least two certified investigators will assess the skills of potential investigators by oral examination. Based on the candidates performance, the review board will recommend or deny certification. Review board questions must consist of information the candidate has been trained on.
Candidates will prepare for their review board by participating in the necessary training. To ensure training, candidates will acquire signatures on a sheet for completing the following tasks.
-A short research project/presentation.
-Review of each part of the latest edition of the Field Investigation and Expeditionary
Guide.
-Review of Crypto Science Society Report Forms.
-Two separate sight visits.
-Two separate expeditions.
-Two approved guest speaker lectures.
Signatures must be obtained from certified investigators of the Crypto Science Society or investigators of other approved organizations. A list of approved organizations will be maintained by the CSS Secretary and updated periodically by the CSS President and Chief Investigator.
Signoffs must be completed before the review board may be scheduled and convened.
Certificate will be a badge. The badge will contain the name; “Crypto Science Society” (may be abbreviated C.S.S.). Badges will also include the investigators school, official CSS Logo, investigators picture, name position/title, and any special designations or skills. Badge will be valid while the investigator is an active student member of the Crypto Science Society.
Each team will maintain a team leader or Chief Investigator. The Chief Investigators main job will be to organize expeditions and investigations. The Chief Investigators will also conduct periodic training with their team members. There should also be joint team meetings, as well as periodic status reports to the Officers Counsel. The most experienced team member will be the Chief Investigator.
There shall be at least one investigator specially trained and certified to analyze data. There may be an additional team of data analysts with their own Chief.
Article VII-Amendments
This Constitution may be amended at any time by a majority vote by the Officers Counsel of the Metro State Crypto Science Society.
Article VIII-Adoption
This shall be the official constitution of the Crypto Science Society upon official registration with the Office of Student Activities.
