Economics Major With Secondary Education

Social Studies Endorsement

Students who wish to obtain Colorado licensure for Secondary Social Studies must earn a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in one of the following disciplines: History, Political Science, Economics, Behavioral Science, or Chicano Studies. In addition to course requirements in the major, all social studies licensure candidates must complete a core curriculum that provides a foundation in history, geography, political science, economics, and behavioral science and addresses the objectives of the PLACE Social Studies examination. The core curriculum is strengthened by courses in the major. The Economics major will take supplemental advanced courses including economics, econometrics, and history of economic thought.

(Note: The Advising Guide is not a substitute for meeting with academic advisors. Students majoring in Economics and seeking Secondary School Social Studies Teaching Endorsement must consult an advisor in Economics and one in Secondary Education. Departments will assign the student a regular advisor.

Students seeking teacher licensure must gain admission to the Teacher Education Program. The "application for admission" form must be obtained during the first semester of education coursework from the Teacher Education Center (CN 101). Formal admission must be obtained BEFORE the second semester of education coursework can be taken)
