Events
GIS Club sponsors numerous
events to enhance GIS education, networking, and fun.
Here are some of the recent events:
2006
• Spatial Olympics event at Tivoli for the fifth consecutive year,
making it a GIS Club tradition. This fun event tested geography skills
and awarded geographic prizes. Numerous local sponsors provided prizes
for the event. This event usually coincides with Earth Day.
• Geospatial Enterprises Panel, at Tivoli. Speakers included Karen
Brandt from the City of Broomfield, Peter Gomez from XCEL Energy, and
Mark Hess from Ocean Imaging. These industry seminars are thrilling
and encouraging to students,
2005
• Spatial Olympics at Tivoli
• Two trips to the U.S.G.S Mapping Center.
2004
• Spatial Olympics at Tivoli
• Career Fair with GITA at Tivoli. Several speakers were scheduled
and students learned about this professional GIS organization.
• Volunteering for the 2004 A.S.P.R.S. Conference in Denver
• Volunteering for the 2004 GIS in the Rockies Conference in Denver
2003
• Spatial Olympics at Tivoli
• Trip to U.S.G.S. Mapping Center, and participated in GIS Day
through this event.
• Seminar GIS Trends along the Front Range, at Tivoli. This event
featured four speakers from government and industry discussing the future
of GIS opportunities and the training and experience required to succeed
in the field. This event drew more than 40 students and generated a
lot of enthusiasm.
• Volunteering for the 2003 GIS in the Rockies Conference in Denver
• Talk by Joseph Kerski from U.S.G.S. on GIS education
• GIS graduate school opportunities seminar at Tivoli

• Spatial Olympics at Tivoli
• Volunteering for the Pecora 15 Conference in Denver
