Degree Requirements
The department offers the Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services with a Drug and Alcohol Counseling concentration. In addition to the core curriculum, Drug and Alcohol majors take the following courses:
HSP 2060-8 Practicum II
HSP 3400-3-Pharmocology
HSP 3430-3 Addictive Behaviors
HSP 3470-4 Counseling the Substance Abuser
HSP 3580-1 Resistive Client
plus 12 hours of Human Services classes and 6 hours of general electives. The college’s General Studies requirements (33 hours) apply.
It is suggested that 4 of the 12 Human Services hours be HSP 3490, Multicultural Issues in Human Services, which will fulfill the multicultural requirement for graduation. Addictions majors should not take HSP 1470, Sex, Drugs, Rock and Roll.
