Smart Classroom: Laptop Trouble Shooting

Laptop doesn’t display through projector

When using a laptop, make sure that the right output mode is selected on the laptop.  The output mode is changed by pressing the fn key and the function (Fx) key labeled with a monitor symbol or “CRT/LCD”. This key may vary depending on the laptop. It usually is the F7 or F8 key.

The following output modes are available:

  • laptop only
  • projector only
  • laptop and projector
In some cases, the monitor cable must be plugged into the laptop before the laptop is started up. Restart the laptop in order for the projector to be recognized by the laptop.

Try to use a different device like Cable TV. If the Cable TV is displaying correctly, go back to the PC. It may display the visuals now. If it still doesn’t work, check the projector.

Laptop doesn’t connect to network

Ensure that ethernet cable is properly connected to ethernet port and laptop. If connectivity problems persist please contact the Media Center at 62426 for assistance.
