Education and Professional Experience:
Dr. García received a B.S. in Education from Bowling Green
State University with a major in Spanish and pursued graduate study
at Indiana University, where he earned an M.A. degree in Spanish
and Latin American Literature. He later received his Ph.D. in Foreign
Language Education from the Ohio State University. Dr. García
has taught at Williams College, Central Michigan University and
the University of Colorado at Boulder. He has also been a Visiting
Professor at Middlebury College and Texas A&I University in
Laredo, Texas. He was Department Chair from Fall Semester 2004 to
Summer 2007.
Teaching and Research Interests:
Dr. García has taught all levels of Spanish at the university level and has experience as a high school teacher of Spanish. Although his main interest remains Foreign Language Methodology, he has taught courses in Bilingual Education and Special Education, as well as directed student teachers and teaching assistants. He is actively involved in the Multimedia Classrooms of the Plaza Building.

He is active in the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) , the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and the Colorado Congress of Foreign Language Teachers (CCFLT).
