 Gerty Theresa Cori

Gertrude Cori wurde 1896 in Prag als Gerty Theresa Radnitz geboren. Sie studierte Medizin an der Karls Universität zu Prag. Sie heiratete Carl Cori, der auch ein Student der Medizin war, nach ihrem Studienabschluss im Jahre 1920. Sie emigrierten 1922 in die USA. Sie arbeiteten zusammen in St Louis als Forschungskollegen. Gerty wurde 1947 Professorin für Biochemie. 1947 trugen die Coris den Nobelpreis in Medizin für ihre Arbeiten über den Zucker-Stoffwechsel.

"Gerty" Cori was born Gertrude Theresa Radnitz in 1896 in Prague, then part of Austria. She studied medicine at the Emperor Karls University of Prague and received her doctorate in 1920. She married her husband Carl Cori in the same year. Two years later, they emmigrated to the United States. They worked together and were research associates in St Louis. Gerty Cori became a professor of biochemistry in 1947. The Coris collaborated on much of their research and in 1947 they won the Nobel Prize in Medicine for their discovery of the course of the catalytic conversion of glycogen.
