Helmine von Chézy

Helmine von Chézy wurde am 26. Januar 1783 unter dem Namen Wilhelmine von Klencke in Berlin geboren. Sie war Tochter der Schriftstellerin Karoline Luisa von Klencke und Enkelin der Dichterin Anna Luisa Karsch. Ihr Sohn Wilhelm von Chézy schrieb auch als Journalist.

1805 heiratete sie den Orientalisten Antoine Leonard de Chézy. Sie hatte zwei Söhne. Helmine trennte sich von ihm und lebte mit ihren beiden Söhnen bei anderen. Sie wohnte von 1823 bis 1829 in Wien. Sie schrieb viel Libretti für Opern. Sie schrieb auch Gedichte und Volkslieder. Sie starb 1856.

Helmine von Chézy was born January 26, 1783 in Berlin under the name Wilhelmine von Klencke. She was the daughter of writer Karoline Luisa von Klencke and granddaughter of poet Anna Luisa Karsch. Her son, Wilhelm von Chézy, also wrote as a journalist.

She married Antoine Leonard de Chézy, a specialist of Middle Eastern and Asian studies, in 1805. They had two sons. She broke off her marriage and lived with her two sons in the homes of others. She lived in Vienna from 1823 to 1829. She wrote many Lebretti for Operas. She also wrote poetry and folksongs. She died in 1856.
