Phoenix: I LIVE

This is my poem in celebration of the Phoenix in me.
This is my poem to say out loud
He lives.
I'm thankful for the fire that burns deep within.

This is for those grade school kids who didn't want to play with me.
Thank you.
For picking me last on your team
Or not at all.
I thank you.

For if it were not for you I never would have felt the raging fire give birth
To the Phoenix in me
Or heard him say,
"I LIVE."

This poem is a reminder of pounding the pavement looking for a job,
But having no response,
Yet not giving up.
Reminding me of the times O would ask myself the ultimate question;
"WHY THE HELL ARE YOU STILL TRYING!?"
Only to hear a response by fire that blazed so ferociously from the
Inner most part of me I felt I would die,
And hear those words
"STILL ALIVE."

This is for the men and women named stress
Who made my life a living HELL.
Because of you there were times I literally died
On the inside.
My bones and flesh separated
One from the other.
There was nothing left.
Only ash that lay in a pile deep within.

In spite of this the Phoenix gave birth
To himself over
And over
And over again.

Each time bringing a firestorm of pain during the rebirth .
Each time saying those same two words,
"I LIVE"

This is my oracle.
A peek into my past,
As well as, into my future.
I may be down or even specks of ash, but never beyond the power
To live again.
