I feel that words are cheap
today,

and that’s a problem
because I
am a poet,

and should be swooning,
dropping to my knees,

kissing the groundon which
they stand.

Instead, I scorn the page
with a glance,
and toss my raging thoughts
back to the seas.

The sea gulps,
swallows
my words which were
meant to shine.
