About
the Nurses' Club
The MSCD Nurses' Club was founded in the early 80's. It is an officially
recognized club of MSCD and is eligible to apply for student funding
of its activities. All students enrolled as majors in the nursing
program are automatically members of the club.
The
primary purpose of the club is to provide support for the nurse students at MSCD. The club does fundraising activities to
offset some of its expenses. The club has also purchased equipment
for students to use in their courses. Some of the activities which
the club has done include a workshop offered every semester on "How
to Write a Paper Using the APA Format," providing registration
fee for a select number of students to CNA convention and Nurses'
Day at the Capitol, drawings for select prizes, luncheons at their
annual meetings, guest speakers, etc. The Club is eligible for applying
for College student travel monies. In the past club members have
attended national conventions and professional education meetings
such as ANA Convention and Health Policy Conference in Washington,
D.C. that included visits with Colorado Congress persons, visits
to ANA Headquarters, National Institutes of Health, and various
historical sites.
The
club has the offices of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer,
and three members at large which plan and direct the club's activities
for the year. The elections take place each spring. All students
are encouraged to participate in these activities. The club provides
opportunities for you to exhibit your leadership skills and to enrich
your life as you progress through the program. The amount of time
spent as an officer is minimal and can be lots of fun. When the
entire nursing student body participates, the club can accomplish
many things with very little effort from everyone.
