The Metropolitan
In continuous publication since 1979, Metro State's student newspaper, The Metropolitan offers students the opportunity to explore fields such as journalism, advertising sales, marketing, graphic arts, publishing, photography, business, and accounting through work experiences. The Metropolitan is written and produced by and for the more than 20,000 students of Metropolitan State College of Denver, and contains a mix of news, features, sports, advertising, and editorials. The newspaper is published weekly during the fall and spring semesters, and monthly during the summer. The Metropolitan is 85 percent self-funded from advertising sales revenues.
As a source of news and information, The Metropolitan is dedicated to serving the needs of a diverse Auraria campus community that includes more than 47,000 students - 20 percent of all the college students in Colorado. As a place to advertise information, The Metropolitan helps businesses and organizations bring their message to a community that often can't be effectively targeted via any other medium.
