The Office of Student Media at Metropolitan State College of Denver is a work-based learning organization where students produce a variety of media including a weekly newspaper and an annual literary and arts magazine. A student-fee-funded program, the Office develops professional and technological skills, and fosters positive work habits and work histories to help students succeed in their careers.
Several groundbreaking online media outlets give students experience in the fields of Web page design, multimedia development and streaming audio and video production.The office also produces the annual MSCD Student Handbook, and provides visual design, photography, video and Web design services on a fee basis.
The Board of Student Media is the advisory board to the editors of Metrosphere and The Metropolitan and the news director of Met Report. Each spring, the Board chooses the news director and editors from a pool of applicants for the following academic year. The Board also addresses concerns, complaints or questions regarding content of the respective media. The Board, made up of five students, three administrators and three faculty members, meets monthly during the fall and spring semesters.
