Public Administration
Public Administration Minor
The Public Administration curriculum offered by the Political Science Department at Metropolitan State College of Denver is designed to meet a recognized need for an undergraduate curriculum which will develop skills in various areas of public management. It is available to students who are either presently employed in public service or those who plan a career in city, county, state or federal government. The series of courses also provides a solid foundation for post-graduate study in Public Administration. The Political Science department offers both a minor in Public Administration and a certificate in Public Administration.
A governmental internship will be required of all students for a minimum of three semester hours. This requirement may be waived for students with at least one calendar year of administrative work experience in a government agency. Students who have had at least one year of governmental administrative experience may substitute one course under Section II for the internship.
It is recommended that Public Administration minors also take a course in both public speaking and technical writing.
Please see the College Catalog for detailed Core Requirements and Electives for the Minor.
