About the Department of Political Science

The Department of Political Science offers both a major (minimum 36 credit hours) and a minor (minimum 21 credit hours). The department also offers a minor and certificate in Public Administration, a minor in Native American Studies, and a certificate in Leadership.

In addition to offering a full range of classes at all MSCD sites, the department offers extensive internship and cooperative education opportunities, as well as a variety of special activities, including a summer program in Washington, D.C. The department also sponsors chapters of the Student Political Science Association and the National Political Science Honor Society (ПΣΑ). The department, in cooperation with a number of student organizations, also invites noteworthy speakers to campus and generates numerous educational and social events which reflect the college’s diverse student body. The department sponsors the Model Arab League and Model U.N. programs, provides pre-law advising to the campus at large, and houses the Golda Meir Center for Political Leadership. Yearly, the department awards the Golda Meir Student Leadership Award.
